Virginia Tech Student

ree

Meet Julie. Julie is a rising sophomore at Virginia Tech, studying Business Management and Political Science. She grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a diverse and tight-knit community that crafted her into the person she is today. Growing up, she loved being involved and participated in several extracurriculars throughout school such as Student Council, Varsity Basketball, National Honor Society, Equity Ambassadors, etc.

In high school, she graduated with a 4.4 GPA, earned several scholarships, and was blessed to receive a full ride to Virginia Tech. One of the most meaningful experiences she had during high school was a mentorship with a Cultural Communications college professor who inspired her to want to achieve success in her community and to think bigger about her future.

Looking ahead, her goal is to attend law school, pass the bar exam, and break into corporate law. She's passionate about using her voice and education to make an impact, especially in areas where people who look like her are underrepresented.

She didn't actively seek out scholarships during the college application process. They were awarded to her because of her commitment and academic achievements. Her advice is to stay focused, work hard, and trust that your dedication will create opportunities. In addition, if you're considering a career in Business Management or Political Science, these fields are all about using your voice to lead and make an impact. Take up space, ask the tough questions, and lead with purpose.
